On February 7th 2024, PhD student Lorenzo De Donato, co-supervised by Prof. Francesco Flammini, will defend his PhD thesis on Deep Learning for Railway Safety and Maintenance at the Department of Electrical and Information Technology Engineering (DIETI) of the University of Naples Federico II.
Lorenzo has addressed several relevant TAS topics including trustworthy AI, safety envelopes for autonomous driving, intelligent control through computer vision for obstacle detection, deep transfer learning for domain adaptation, and digital twins in the loop for AI testing.
For his achievements on those fields, he has been recently hired by Hasler Rail.
